Institut auf Dem Rosenberg in St. Gallen, Switzerland

I recently had the absolute privilege of visiting the Institut auf Dem Rosenberg in St. Gallen, Switzerland as a  #InstitutaufdemRosenbergAmbassador .  @instrosenberg  is a pioneering boarding school offering a unique learning experience that fosters creativity, independence, and adaptability. Their students get to engage in so many cool collaborative and interdisciplinary projects! One great example of Rosenberg’s immersive learning philosophy is its self-sustaining Future Park, where students undertake projects alongside experts in science, technology and design. The park features Wind Trees, which power charging stations, as well as a Climate Gar...

Designed for a Dream: The Meaning of my Mission Patch

Elsa's "Mission to Mars and Beyond" Patch designed by NASA's Mission patch artist, Tim Gagnon. Be a part of the Mars Generation and a part of Elsa’s crew. Get a mission patch to collect or stick on your favorite jacket or flight suit.  Shop Now!     I am excited today to have my amazing designer Tim Gagnon write a guest blog about the design of my #NASAElsaShiju Patch. Creating a mission patch for a space program, much less an aspiring astronaut, doesn’t come up in my purview of projects. Still, I keep an open mind for the “There’s a First Time for Everything Category” of creative projects. This specific patch design isn’t for NASA, SpaceX or some other private planetary enterprise, it’s for a rising young star, Elsa Shiju, who from a very young age knew in her heart she wanted to be an astronaut and go to mars. Space mission patches have a great deal of meaning and symbolism underlining the design. With the prominent hashtag “NASAElsaShiju,” Elsa’s patch has a unique...

Ripley’s One Zany Day

February 27, 2022. Today I went to Ripley’s Believe It or Not warehouse. I got to all kinds of weird and cool stuff. I saw statues that were made of tires, plastic utensils, and even bones. I saw really cool paintings but the artist would use toothpaste instead of paint. I got to see a shrunken head, a vampire killing set and lots of cool stuff. As far as space stuff, I got to wear a Russian survival jacket. I also got to hold a tube of moon dust, a Fabergé egg with a microfilm of the bible in it that went to the moon, a golf ball that went to the moon and I also got to hold a piece of Mars. I held a pretty big Mars rock. I also got to stand on the rock so I have stepped foot on Mars. After visiting I went to another warehouse to do a photoshoot because I am going to be on the back cover and in one of Ripley’s books. I had a lot of fun seeing the cool stuff and doing the photoshoot. Je suis alle au Ripley’s Believe It or Not et j’ai vu beaucoup des choses bizarre. J’ai vu des statues q...

Master work through International Space University Wallops, VA doing Advanced Rocket, designing a rocket and making it with a 3-d printer and launching it Kansas is Camp 201 prep for future work at Johnson Space Center, Edwards Air Force Base, and Kennedy Space Center "Wallops Flight Facility (WFF), located on the Eastern Shore of Virginia approximately 100 miles north-northeast of Norfolk, is operated by the Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland, primarily as a rocket launch site to support science and exploration missions for NASA and other Federal agencies. WFF includes an extensively instrumented range to support launches of more than a dozen types of sounding rockets, small expendable suborbital and orbital rockets,  high altitude balloon flights carrying scientific instruments for atmospheric and astronomical research and—using its Research Airport—flight tests of aeronautical research aircraft including unmanned aerial vehicles." - Wikipedia

VA Flight Academy

August 2-7. This week I attended the Virginia Space Flight Academy Advance Rocketry. I built my own rocket while using a 3D printer and I assembled a circuit board to measure the altitude of the rocket. I learned how to solder and aerodynamics. My rocket worked well and came down safely. I went on multiple tours. I went to NOAA, HIF, the Antares Launch Pad, the mission control, and the hangar.  At NOAA I saw different satellite dishes that track weather satellites. I also leaned about weather tracking, At the HIF I got to see the next Antares rocket being built. At the hangar I got to see a T-38. At the graduation I won the award for winning the most points on my rocket. July 18, 2021. This past week I have been attending National Flight Academy in Pensacola, FL. I learned to fly the X-12 Triad as well as calculate my fuel. I had lots of fun. I planned and executed 5 missions. From flying to different airfields to saving a sinking cruise ship. I leaned to hover, formation flying, land survival and a blue angel, Tom Frosch and astronaut, Mike Forman, spoke to the camp.  It was very neat having the sound and pictures to make you feel like you were living on board an aircraft carrier. All in all the week was full of hard work, laughs, and lots of fun. I will be at the VA Flight Academy starting July 20th, the 45th anniversary of Man landing on the moon. Come back after that week for my next blog!   Çe semaine dernier j’ai étais à National Flight Academy dans Pensacola, FL. J’apprends comment vole un X-12 Traid aussi beaucoup de maths. There was a pool party later that night. Saturday morning I went to the alumni breakfast and received the Outstanding Alumni Award. I got to eat and speech with several astronauts. I also got to go scuba diving once again and walk through the new ISS exhibit. That night I went to the Hall of Fame dinner then went to the concert under the space shuttle Pathfinder. Mars, PA - June 19-21

Mars is located in southern Butler County  about halfway between the cities of Pittsburgh and Butler. The small community is nestled in a small valley along Breakneck Creek. Pennsylvania Route 228 bypasses the borough to the south, leading east 4 miles (6 km) to Pennsylvania Route 8 and west 8.5 miles (13.7 km) to Interstates 79 and 76 in Cranberry Township. The Mars-Evans City Road leads out of town to the north. Thanks for welcoming me! ;)
