Institut auf Dem Rosenberg in St. Gallen, Switzerland

I recently had the absolute privilege of visiting the Institut auf Dem Rosenberg in St. Gallen, Switzerland as a #InstitutaufdemRosenbergAmbassador@instrosenberg is a pioneering boarding school offering a unique learning experience that fosters creativity, independence, and adaptability. Their students get to engage in so many cool collaborative and interdisciplinary projects!

One great example of Rosenberg’s immersive learning philosophy is its self-sustaining Future Park, where students undertake projects alongside experts in science, technology and design. The park features Wind Trees, which power charging stations, as well as a Climate Garden (a collaboration with ETH Zurich) allowing students to collect data on the effects of climate change on plant and vegetable growth. It also has a Boston Dynamics Spot dog, which I had a blast playing with!

I got to see so many incredible things while visiting @instrosenberg, including the #RosenbergSpaceHabitat! The Rosenberg Space Habitat (RSH) is the tallest 3d-printed polymer structure in the world and was designed by students at the institute in collaboration with @saga_space_architects to house humans on worlds beyond Earth, including the Moon and Mars.

The RSH is made of entirely sustainable materials and crafted to fit inside @spacex’s Starship rocket. The three-story habitat can accommodate a crew of two and a Boston Dynamics robotic dog named Spot! The first floor has a workspace, lab bench and bathroom. The second floor is the main living area, and the third has sleeping quarters where the crew members rest. I had fun going up the ladder that connects the three floors! The habitat has a tablet interface that allows crew members to monitor and control conditions inside. I particularly enjoyed the lights, which are designed to promote a healthy circadian rhythm.

The RSH is currently located in the Institut auf dem Rosenberg’s Future Park and will serve as an experimental environment for students to explore the future of humanity in space!
